You can also pair the iGen2200 with another similar inverter generator in case you need more power.

Manufactured by a Reliable Brand
With its affordable price and advanced features, Westinghouse’s iGen2200 portable inverter generator is able to compete with its competitors. Westinghouse has proven over the years to be a reliable brand and since its birth, it has been providing solutions to make power more efficient across the globe.
The company has been offering innovative technology for a century, making life easier for everyone. Certainly, this particular model, iGen2200 is a reflection of their legacy of excellence.
Easy to Use
iGen2200 is super easy and convenient to use. You don’t need some special understanding to operate this generator. You can easily observe and see on the generator what button would do what and what light indicates what.
There are three settings for the power control knob: off, run, and choke, and they make finding the right setting easy. A series of three LED indicator lights are located to the left of the power control knob.
The lights warn you when there is low oil, an overload, or when your output is ready. You need to know the status of each light in order to know how your generator is performing.
Compact and Easily Portable
We’re personally not in favor of large generators and so compact and easily portable generators are a big win for us.
This particular Westinghouse iGen2200 generator is very compact in its design and hence, can be carried and lifted easily. Because these portable inverter generators are usually preferred for camping trips and stuff, they have to be suitably small and portable. And with iGen2200, you get to have both.
By the convenient functioning of this generator, we mean that you have every functionality in close access to each other. The control panel, power knobs, LED indicator lights, USB ports, and other such buttons are very clearly located and hence, you get to operate them very conveniently with ease.
A neatly organized user interface with color-coded controls has been placed at one end of the iGen2200 by Westinghouse. A yellow highlight is used to indicate key areas that need to be taken care of when starting the inverter. Top-mounted on the generator is the fuel filler.
I’ve already told y’all about the quietness of this generator but it’s again, worth mentioning here as a very noticeable feature. From about 20 feet away, the iGen2200 produces 52 dB of noise with a 25% load. According to the Industrial Noise Control, this is about the same volume as a conversation at home which is way too good for a generator noise.
In fact, it operates at a lower noise level than typical conversations even at 50% load, making it ideal for night-time use. When power interruptions last longer than expected, you can run the inverter generator at 25% load and fill the 1.2-gallon tank. You should have enough power for 10 hours with this.
There are many popular generators on the Market that are loud and here are the reasons why Generators are so loud.
Digital Control Panel
iGen2200 comes with a Digital panel for easy and quick operation.
The engine control switch is prominently displayed on the control panel, where you set the choke and turn on/off the fuel. An iGen2200 interface features a 120-Volt, 20-Amp duplex outlet (NEMA 5-20R) that has a maximum current capacity of 20 Amps.
In your home, you have the same kind of outlets, but with a trip switch that limits both to a maximum of 20 Amps. When you use two-ups, the 20 Amps are shared, but if you use only one, you have the full 20 Amps while each 120V outlet in your home can deliver 15 or 20 Amps.
Two USB 5VDC outlets are also located next to the 120V outlets. They provide 1 and 2.1 amps, respectively. To keep the weather out, the iGen2200 has rubber covers on all of its outlets and push buttons.
The Eco throttle mode on this generator ensures that fuel consumption is reduced, making it a fuel-efficient generator. By adjusting the energy consumption with this feature, more energy can be conserved.
Fuel Control Switch
On the interface panel, you will also find the efficiency mode switch. It automatically adjusts engine speed based on load to save fuel when possible, during use. In response to an increase in load, the engine speeds up in order to deliver more power. This switch is primarily intended to conserve fuel and reduce noise.
This generator has a running wattage of 1800W and a maximum wattage of 2200W, perfect for emergency backups.
Here’s an idea of what can be run with it – this would be enough to power something like an RV air conditioner with an output of 11,000 BTU, coupled with a refrigerator. Computers, fans, coffee makers, grills, and small home appliances can also be powered by it.
The run time of this generator is another fantastic feature. At quarter load, you can get 12 hours of continuous running time, and this is mainly a result of its Fuel Efficiency mode, with which you are able to switch on and off according to the power consumption needed.
Also, despite higher loads, this generator is capable of lasting for hours without interruption.
It is legal in California to operate the Westinghouse iGen2200 generators due to their compliance with EPA, USFS, and CARB regulations. There is a U.S. National Forest Service-approved spark arrestor, and the generator can be used in Canada as well. All parks and forest service areas in America are available for you to use the iGen2200.
iGen2200 comes with a three-year limited warranty, which proves that Westinghouse stands behind its products, and reassures customers that they can rely on their portable generator purchase.
On their website, they also provide an easy-to-use warranty claim form if a warranty repair is required.
What We Didn’t Really Like About Westinghouse iGen2200
Here are a few things that in our opinion, could have been improved.
- Despite its 52 dBA maximum sound level at 25% load, the generator can produce some noise at full load. You should run it at half-load if you want to keep it very quiet.
- There are also complaints about the lack of oil and fuel gauges.
- Lastly, this generator has cooling vents on the bottom and sides, so they shouldn’t be set on grass or dirt. In order to prevent the generator from potentially overheating, the manufacturer recommends mounting it on a flat, level surface.

You can’t go wrong with the iGen2200 if you’re looking for an inverter generator for camping or RV use. While it costs only a fraction of what some more expensive generators do, it offers the same functionality.
In other words, this is one of the best mid-sized generators that won’t disturb your neighbors during a power outage. It is easy to use, even for novice generator operators, due to its easy-to-use controls and lightweight design.
However, a higher-wattage generator may be the best option for those looking for the most power.
